About us
- The International Church of the Foursquare Gospel approached Pastor Jeff & Mary Jane Kolodziej in November of 1984 to pioneer a new Foursquare Church in Medina, OH.
- They were released from their assisting positions in Parma, OH on April 1, 1985.
- Cornerstone Chapel held its first service at Medina High School on May 19, 1985, and was chartered on February 17, 1987.
- Construction on a new building began in April of 1991 and was completed in September of that year.
- The first service in the new building was held on September 8, 1991, but was officially dedicated on September 22nd.
- In October of 1992, construction for the first addition to the building began to add three classrooms and a storage area.
- This addition was completed in March of 1993.
- The mortgage on this building was paid in full on May 2, 1995. This 15-year loan of $260,000 was paid off in less than 4 years.
- A second addition to add classrooms and offices began in January of 1996 and was completed in May of that year.
- The third addition to the building was that of a new sanctuary which began in July of 1996 and was completed in February of 1997.
- The first service in the new sanctuary was held on February 2, 1997 and it was officially dedicated on March 2nd.
- Renovations of the old Sanctuary began immediately, creating the Fellowship Hall, Nursery, and an upstairs that would hold a Conference Room and two offices.
- Those renovations were completed on May 1, 1997.
- An additional 22 acres were purchased in July of 2002.
- A new parking lot and entrance to Rt. 3 were completed July of 2005. Construction on a Chapel & Café Addition began in January of 2006, and the first children’s service in this new addition was September 10, 2006.
- In addition to many ministries, the Psalmist School of Music and Fine Arts was instituted in June of 1993 and is currently continuing to serve the Home School population with supplemental education under its founder, Mary Jane Kolodziej.
There are evolving dreams and visions for the future of Cornerstone Chapel, building not only to our church structure but continuing to build the Kingdom of God on earth as it is in Heaven.
